Interviews, photographs and stories of everyday people engaged in social justice activism in Southern Arizona.
We need our own media outlets and to connect our communities to other reliable outlets.
Amplifying Voices is focused on cultural changes that support healing for people from all backgrounds. We recognize that systems of oppression harm everyone, including the people who they are espoused to benefit.
Our intention is to center the voices of people who are LGBTQ+ and people who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. We also seek to include people living in rural areas, food producers, immigrants, elderly, youth, those living with HIV, and people who are White.
Our multi-racial, intergenerational crew is made up of queer artists, organizers and activists living in Tucson. We have partnerships with Fluxx Productions, a queer art organization; KXCI Community Radio and The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
To maintain our strength and vision, cultural workers need to mutually support one another, to remind us that our visions are possible and to not fall into traps of self-doubt those in power may want us to believe.
